YES. There IS a Blue Moon on Aug. 20. But wait, you say: Aren't Blue
Moons the second full moon in a month? And isn’t this the first full
moon of August? Well, that "two moons in a month" rule is new and was
never used by wise, old farmers. You see, there are usually three moons
per season. Farmers named them to keep a sense of time throughout the
year. The first summer moon was the "early summer," then came the
"midsummer," and finally the "late summer moon." But sometimes there are
four moons per season. Farmers called that extra third one "Blue" so that the fourth and final one could still be called the late moon. So there you have it! sursa
